Lorena Rivas Provides Insight on Impactful Immigration Issues

Impactful Immigration Issues

Life for Lorena Rivas continues to be busy. Whether she is traveling to cities like Boston, San Diego or Saint Louis to assist clients, the demand is high for the accomplished immigration attorney.

Not that the four-time Super Lawyers® Rising Star selection minds. In fact, Lorena Rivas goes out of her way to help develop a better understanding of deep and impactful immigration issues. It’s this constant dedication which might better explain why Rivas spent a recent Friday night as a panelist for a FREE immigration community forum at St. Thomas More Church in Tulsa.

“I believe it is extremely important to participate in these types of open community discussions,” Lorena Rivas said. “I think one of the biggest reasons why there is such a division on immigration law and so many other issues within our country presently is due to the lack of discourse and dialogue we have with one another.”

Although forum participants talked about a number of impactful immigration issues, Rivas focused much of her discussion on U Visas, 245i Status Adjustment and I-864 Affidavit of Support Form.

Irma ChajeckI coordinated and moderated the even and has a developed a long-standing relationship with Rivas over the years.

“We were very happy to have our dear friend Lorena Rivas as a member of the panel,” Irma Chajecki said during a recent personal interview. “Lorena is an outstanding immigration attorney very dear to our community. She was member of the board of the Coalition of Hispanic organizations for several years and always was very helpful with our immigration programs.  At our last immigration forum, she explained and answered several questions related to immigration processes.  We are very grateful to her and value all her knowledge and experience serving our Hispanic community.”

Although Rivas is rapidly becoming a prominent international and national immigration standout, she continues to remain deeply involved in the Tulsa community which is her two firms – Rivas & Associates and The Lawyers of Kendall Whittier – remain based.

Rivas visited San Miguel Middle School for its annual “Meet a Local Leader Event” earlier in the year and recently served as a panelist for the Tulsa Women’s Leadership Summit in May.

“I think it’s very important to remain involved in the community when the opportunity presents itself,” Lorena Rivas said. “It is something I encourage our attorneys and staff to do when they have the time and ability to do so.”
