Families and local immigration attorneys say they have been unable to visit detainees virtually or in-person at the privately owned Diamondback Correctional Facility since it reopened in December to house detainees for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
While facility staff cited ongoing construction beyond their control, attorneys and advocates have expressed concern that the facility operated by CoreCivic opened too soon, hampering essential services and vital legal consultations in a rush to accommodate federal mandates.
