Luke Hancox

Luke Hancox is an immigration attorney licensed to practice in Washington, D.C. He earned his Juris Doctor from American University Washington College of Law, graduating in 2023. He currently resides in Chicago, Illinois. Luke focuses his immigration practice on non-detained adult representation. He also completed a three-year competitive fellowship through the Immigrant Justice Corps, where he represented unaccompanied minors.

Luke is dedicated to immigrant rights and has pursued a career in immigration law since enrolling in law school. He was a student attorney at his law school’s Immigrant Justice Clinic, where he provided pro bono support to members of the community navigating unique and complex issues of immigration law. After law school, he was accepted to a fellowship that placed him with the National Immigrant Justice Center in Chicago, Illinois. There he represented unaccompanied minors, both when they were detained and after they had been released to a sponsor in the U.S. This experience was instrumental in igniting his passion for removal defense and the challenges of protecting fundamental rights that goes along with it.

Clients can expect Luke to handle their case with a client-centered approach and in a trauma-informed manner. He wants to empower his clients to tell their story and have their voices heard in a system that seemingly strives to restrict that at every turn. He will fight for their rights and counsel their decisions in a way that puts their goals first and treats them and their stories with compassion.
